2017 has been a year for reflection on my past work and some new initiatives with other Nova Scotia artists. Notably, I was one of the five artists on the executive committee of the Rørpost collaboration project: 48 artists from Esbjerg, Denmark and Halifax, Canada collaborated with randomly selected partners to develop their own global narrative to create collaborative and solo works of art.  I participated in the Blue Mountain Birch Cove Art Exhibit at the Keshen Goodman Library to publicize the need for preserving wilderness parkland within Halifax municipality. I also started doing commissioned figurative painting.

Forest Sentinals, Acrylic on canvas, 30"h x 40"w , 2017           Hollis Street: Autumn Day, Acrylic on canvas, 12"h x 16"w, 2014

My landscape paintings address common Nova Scotia scenes, both in the city and in nature. Real objects, large and small, are transformed into complex but harmonious textures by light and shadow.

Finding and capturing patterns in this complexity is a key component of my art.  My paintings attempt to evoke familiar everyday scenes.

While a painting may be based on a specific place, the image should feel familiar to the Nova Scotia landscape.

My recent landscapes are available for sale from the Secord Gallery, Upstairs, 6301 Quinpool Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia. To check out these paintings go to http://www.secordgallery.com

A number of my paintings and plein air works are available at the Teichert Gallery in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Their artworks can be seen with the link

In 2015 I was showing my plain air works at Art 1274 Hollis, which is an artist run cooperative in Halifax Nova Scotia. I have since left that gallery for new opportunities.

The Swoon Fine Art virtual gallery is also showing my work (www.swoonfineart.com) and is making them available for sale online.

I am doing more of my work outdoors, en plein air, as a practice to further develop my observation skills and to experience the joy of painting in a beautiful setting.
